President Abdel Fattah El Sisi said on Monday Egypt is looking forward to making Dabaa Nuclear Power Project a new edifice, set to be added to the list of achievements jointly accomplished by Egypt and Russia throughout history.

Sisi's remarks came during his today's meeting with Director General of ROSATOM Alexey Likhachev in the presence of Electricity Minister Mohamed Shaker, Chairman of the Board of Nuclear Power Plants Authority Amged el Wakeel, and Russia's Ambassador to Egypt Georgy Borisenko.

"President Sisi stressed the Dabaa Nuclear Power Project will be a symbol of the Egyptian-Russian friendship, expressing his trust in the Russian expertise in setting up the plant in line with the highest technical and technological standards and nuclear safety specifications," Presidential Spokesman Bassam Rady said.

Welcoming the Russian officials in Egypt, President Sisi asked for conveying his greetings to Russian President Vladimir Putin and his people on the new year 2021.

Meanwhile, Likhachev conveyed Putin's greetings to Sisi, saying the Russian president appreciates the depth and strength of ties with Egypt and he is keen to develop them at all levels.

Likhachev lauded Egypt's investment-friendly environment to establish joint mega-projects, greeting Sisi for containing the coronavirus repercussions this year.

The close friendship between the Egyptian and Russian presidents and their strong will are the most important factors which render the nuclear project successful, ROSATOM chief said.

Russia is keen to accomplish the project according to its fixed timeline in line with the highest standards, he noted.

He also praised the Egyptian cadres, who take part in establishing the plant which will powerfully add to Egypt's electric energy.
