President Abdel Fattah El Sisi congratulated on Thursday Patrice Talon on his re-election as Benin's President, Presidential Spokesman Bassam Rady said.
In a phone call, Sisi affirmed the distinguished bilateral ties between Egypt and Benin, and Egypt's keenness to strengthen cooperation between both states in various fields, especially in infrastructure and energy projects, as well as counter-terrorism, and maritime piracy in West Africa.
On his part, Benin's President hailed the continuous and rapid development in bilateral relations between Egypt and Benin, expressing his deep appreciation to Egypt, its people, and its leadership for its ultimate support to his country to achieve its aspirations for development.
The spokesman added that both presidents discussed a number of regional issues of common interest.
In this regard, Sisi expressed his aspiration to continue coordination with his Beninese counterpart regarding issues of security, stability, and development at the level of the African continent. Meanwhile, Talon praised Egypt's political will and clear vision towards advancing joint African action efforts and achieving development goals in Africa.
