President Abdel Fattah El Sisi announced, on Monday, the cancellation of the extension of the state of emergency imposed for years throughout the country.

"I am happy to announce that I decided, for the first time in years, to cancel the extension of the state of emergency throughout the country," Sisi said in a post on Facebook.

Sisi added: “Egyptian people were the real maker of this decision through their active participation in all development and construction efforts.”

The president affirmed that Egypt has become, thanks to its great people and loyal men, an oasis of security and stability in the region.

Moreover, he did not forget to pay tribute to the heroic martyrs, asserting that we could not have reached this state of security and stability without them.

"We shall move together steadily towards building the new republic, with the help and support of God. Long live Egypt. Long live Egypt. Long live Egypt," he concluded.
