President Abdel Fattah El Sisi directed on Sunday the government to adopt a holistic and integrated approach to implement a rural development project in harmony with all relevant state bodies, according to Presidential Spokesman Bassam Rady.
Sisi issued the directives during a meeting with Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli and the ministers of electricity, water resources, and irrigation, housing and agriculture.
Sisi was briefed on the latest progress in implementing the executive plan for a national rural development project, which covers about 1,500 villages nationwide.
The project aims to upgrade the infrastructure in villages, including water, sewage, power, natural gas, and road services.
It also includes lining irrigation canals for effective use of water and improving healthcare, education, and social protection services.
The president also followed up the latest progress in the plans to improve the efficiency of irrigation networks and agricultural drainage treatment plants nationwide to support the state's ongoing land reclamation efforts.
