President Abdel Fattah El Sisi met Wednesday with the Prime Minister and the Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy to follow up on the executive position of national projects in the electricity sector.

“The president was briefed on the efforts to modernize and develop the national electricity network in Egypt with all its basic infrastructure components including power generation and production stations and distribution networks to supplying residential units,’ said Presidency Spokesperson Bassam Rady.

Rady added that the meeting also tackled Sisi’s instructions aimed at possessing a comprehensive national electricity network, for safe and fast transmission of electrical energy with minimal waste and highest quality.

On his part, Sisi called for continuing the development of the governance of the electricity services management system in support of all development areas, in a way that ensures the absorption of increased consumption and improvement of the service provided to citizens across the country.

“The meeting also dealt with the developments of the electricity network in the New Administrative Capital, where Electricity Minister Mohamed Shaker presented the executive position for the construction of high-voltage electric pressure cable tunnels,” Rady noted.

Sisi also discussed the latest developments in electrical interconnection projects with Saudi Arabia and Jordan, as well as the triple interconnection between Egypt, Jordan and Iraq, which are projects that integrate with the state’s efforts to develop Sinai.

“The president asked the concerned authorities to strengthen efforts to implement electrical interconnection projects with the countries of the regional neighborhood, in light of the common interests they achieve, and the good management of electric energy to maximize the benefit from it throughout the year,” the spokesman noted.
