Sisi, Algerian FM Tackle Bilateral Ties, Libya, Tunisia Developments

President Abdel Fattah El Sisi discussed with the Algerian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Ramtane Lamamra, bilateral relations and issues of common interest in the presence of Minister of Foreign Affairs Sameh Shoukry.

"Sisi welcomed the Algerian Foreign Minister in Egypt and asked for his greetings to be conveyed to his brother, Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune," said Presidency Spokesperson Bassam Rady on Monday.

The Egyptian President also lauded the prominent levels of the brotherly relations between the two countries.

He stressed Egypt’s keenness on further advancing frameworks of cooperation at various levels by activating joint bilateral committees to promote relations toward broader prospects in line with the profound fraternal bonds between the two countries and their peoples.

On his part, Lamamra delivered a letter to Sisi from Algerian President Tebboune, underlining Algeria's pride in its close and distinguished relations with Egypt, at the official and popular levels.

In his letter, the Algerian President also stressed his county’s interest in strengthening bilateral cooperation with Egypt in various fields.

President Tebboune is looking forward to further enhancing coordination and consultation with Sisi during the coming period in order to counter the various challenges facing the region and the Arab nation and reinforce joint Arab action.

Moreover, the meeting tackled ways to foster closer bilateral relations, emphasizing the importance of holding the next session of the Joint Higher Committee during the current year.

The importance of holding the next session of the political consultation mechanism at the level of the two foreign ministers was also highlighted.

This aims to enhance efforts toward boosting relations, deepening the bilateral partnership between the two countries, and strengthening frameworks of cooperation and coordination on all issues of common interest in order to achieve stability, security, cooperation, and solidarity.

On regional issues of common interest, the two sides discussed the latest developments in Libya. They agreed on the importance of working toward realizing security and stability and preserving Libya’s territorial integrity and sovereignty.

They also stressed the importance of unifying Libya’s national institutions, especially both the military and security institutions, in order to enhance international efforts to end the presence of all foreign forces and mercenaries in Libyan territory.

With regard to developments of the situation in Tunisia, the two sides affirmed the continued Arab support for President Kais Saied, and his measures and strenuous efforts to achieve stability in the country.
