Sisi Follows up on 'Al-Zahraa' Station for Egyptian-Arabian Purebred Horses

President Abdel Fattah El Sisi was convened on Saturday with Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly and Minister of Agriculture and Land Reclamation Sayed Quseir to follow up on several Agriculture-related national projects.

Engineer Mostafa El-Sayyad, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Land Reclamation attended the meeting as well, according to Presidency Spokesperson Bassam Rady.

In this context, Sisi was briefed on the executive position of the development of the prestigious “Al-Zahraa” station for purebred Egyptian Arabian horses, as it is one of the most famous thoroughbred horse farms in the world that owns the purest breeds of purebred Arabian horses.

Al-Zahraa is expected to be the main nucleus of the “Marabet” city for horses in the New Administrative Capital. It shall be a global, full-fledged edifice covering all components of horse breeding and sports.

In this context, Sisi called for strengthening efforts to develop the “Al-Zahraa” station with the aim of restoring the ancient Egyptian heritage in breeding and producing purebred Egyptian Arabian horses, in partnership with the most prestigious international and local expertise in this field.

On his part, the Agriculture Minister stressed that the World Organization for Animal Health (OIE) has approved a number of laboratories of the Animal Health Research Institute of the Ministry of Agriculture as global reference laboratories.

The latest developments of the meat production and industry system were also reviewed, including the national project for veal and breed improvement. Hence, Sisi asked to increase support for this sector, due to its direct economic and social return for the benefit of citizens, by providing additional funding of EGP10 billion for all livestock projects and meat industry of all kinds.

The plan of the Ministry of Agriculture to upgrade the poultry industry, which is self-sufficient at the local level, and employs about 3 million workers, was also presented.
