Chairman of the State Information Service (SIS) Diaa Rashwan briefed Sudarsan Raghavan, the chief of the Washington Post's Cairo bureau, on the professional violations that were reported in the newspaper reports about Egypt lately.

During their meeting on Saturday, Rashwan said the US-based newspaper reports included fake and incorrect information which was based on unknown sources, a matter which contradicts the principles of journalism, SIS said in a statement.

Rashwan handed Raghavan over a letter to the Washington Post's Editor-in-Chief that includes all the professional violations committed by the newspaper correspondent in Egypt.

He also handed him over a warning to take the appropriate measures against him within the legal framework in Egypt in case of repeating the violations and publishing reports which aim to defame the country.

SIS chief also alerted Cairo Bureau Chief for The New York Times Declan Walsh about many professional violations in some reports which he wrote.

It is worth noting that Rashwan also alerted the correspondent of the US newspaper in April.
