Jannik Sinner made history by becoming the first player to win the Sunshine Double without dropping a set, defeating Jiri Lehecka 6-4, 6-4 to claim the Miami Open title.

The final in Florida was delayed by weather, but Sinner remained composed throughout, adding the Miami crown to his earlier triumph at Indian Wells this month.

Lehecka, playing in his first ATP Masters 1000 final, had not dropped serve throughout the tournament, but Sinner broke early in the opening set to take control. Dominant on his first serve, the Italian closed out the match in just 93 minutes.

“It means a lot to me. Winning the Sunshine Double for the first time is incredible,” Sinner said. “It’s something I never thought possible because it’s so difficult to achieve, so I’m very happy.”

Sinner’s victory places him among an elite group of players who have completed the Sunshine Double, including Jim Courier, Michael Chang, Pete Sampras, Marcelo Rios, Andre Agassi, Roger Federer, and Novak Djokovic.

He is the first male player to achieve the feat since Federer in 2017, while Djokovic has completed it four times in his career.

The Italian has now compiled a 19-2 record this season and extended his remarkable run to 34 consecutive sets won at ATP Masters 1000 events. He also became the third player to win his first seven ATP Masters 1000 titles on a single surface, joining Chang and Andy Murray, both of whom achieved the milestone on hard courts.
