Sinner edged a tight first set 7-6 before taking control in the second to win 6-3, sealing a statement victory on the clay courts.
With the win, Sinner climbs to the top of the ATP world rankings with 13,350 points, overtaking Alcaraz, who drops to second place with 13,240 points.
