Diego Simeone reached a major milestone by overseeing his 1000th match as a professional coach, as his side Atletico Madrid secured a 2-0 away victory over Valencia CF at Mestalla in La Liga Round 34.
The Argentine manager celebrated the landmark occasion with a crucial win that highlighted Atletico Madrid’s continued stability under his leadership. Simeone has now recorded 563 wins, 225 draws, and 212 defeats across his managerial career.
During his tenure at Atletico Madrid, Simeone has also guided the club to 10 major trophies, cementing his status as one of the most influential coaches in modern football.
The victory lifted Atletico Madrid to fourth place in the league standings with 63 points, strengthening their position in the race for UEFA Champions League qualification. They now hold a seven-point advantage over Real Betis in fifth place.
Despite the personal achievement, Simeone remains focused on upcoming challenges, particularly the decisive UEFA Champions League semi-final second leg against Arsenal. The win over Valencia provides an important morale boost ahead of that crucial European fixture.
