Shoukry: there is Arab support for Egypt on GERD issue

Egypt’s Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry said that the meeting of Arab ministers in Qatar aims to provide an opportunity for Arab ministers to discuss joint Arab action and address crises in the Arab arena, explaining that the first round, which was held in Cairo and then in Doha, focused on a broad exchange of ideas and visions.

In a joint press conference with the Libyan Foreign Minister, Shoukry pointed out to great Arab support for Egypt in its stance on the issue of the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD), stressing the importance of ensuring that the interests of Egypt and Sudan are not seriously harmed.

He stressed that Egypt hopes that Ethiopia would engage in serious negotiations to reach an agreement with Egypt and Sudan during the coming period, stressing the importance of security and stability in Africa in general.

Shoukry also discussed with his Libyan counterpart enhancing the relations between the two countries, stressing Egypt's support for the political track in Libya.
