Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sameh Shoukry received a phone call from Anthony Blinken, Secretary of State of the United States of America, and discussed developments in the Gaza Strip crisis and international and regional efforts to deal with its serious humanitarian repercussions, Ambassador Ahmed Abu Zeid, the official spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said.

The Foreign Ministry spokesman stated that the two ministers exchanged views on the deteriorating security and humanitarian conditions in Gaza, as Shoukry stressed the necessity of implementing the Security Council resolution issued on November 15, especially establishing truces and humanitarian corridors and prioritizing the arrival of the necessary aid to the Strip, in addition to reaching a comprehensive ceasefire.

Shoukry also focused on the Israeli violations and practices of collective punishment of Palestinians in the Gaza Strip, pointing out to the role of the United States and influential international parties in intervening to stop these violations and provide the necessary protection for civilians, stressing Egypt’s categorical rejection of the policies of forced displacement of Palestinians inside or outside Gaza.

For his part, the US Secretary of State expressed his appreciation for Egypt’s efforts to work to contain the crisis, as well as for its role in delivering humanitarian aid to Gaza, stressing the US side’s keenness to continue coordination with Egypt regarding various aspects of the crisis.
