Shoukry Meets Luxembourgish Counterpart

Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry met today, Monday, with Luxembourg's Foreign Minister Jean Asselborn, in the context of strengthening bilateral relations between Egypt and Luxembourg.

Ahmed Hafez, the official spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said that  Shoukry praised the level of cooperation  between Egypt and Luxembourg in various fields, as well as the mutual visits and meetings, most notably the visit of the Luxembourg Foreign Minister to Cairo last June, as well as the visit of the Egyptian parliamentary delegation to Luxembourg chaired by the President of the Human Rights Committee last May.

Shoukry also stressed the importance of activating the political consultation mechanism between the two countries' foreign ministries to review various aspects of bilateral relations and coordinate the two countries' positions on issues of common concern.

Shoukry also stressed the importance of enhancing economic cooperation, especially through increasing Luxembourgish investments in light of the promising opportunities in the Egyptian market.

Shoukry highlighted the importance of cooperation in the energy field in light of Egypt's vision of transformation as a regional energy hub, as well as the government's ambitious plans in the field of green transformation, while presenting Egypt's efforts to prepare for the 27th session of the Conference of Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP27).

Hafez also revealed that Shoukry and his Luxembourgish counterpart exchanged views on regional and international issues of common concern,  at the end of the meeting agreed on the importance of maintaining the pace of consultation and coordination and pushing bilateral relations forward to broader horizons.
