Shoukry, John Kerry Discuss Climate Issues (Photos)

Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry met with US Special Presidential Envoy for Climate John Kerry and discussed the climate issues on Saturday.

On the sidelines of the Munich Security Conference in Germany, Shoukry had a cordial conversation with Kerry about climate change, according to Ahmed Hafez, Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Egypt.

Also, Hafez added that the minister had an encounter with European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and French Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian.

In the same vein, Kerry is scheduled to travel to Cairo on Sunday in a two-day visit as he will "deliver an address at American University in Cairo on the future of international climate action in the lead-up to COP27 in Sharm El-Sheikh,” the State Department announced in a statement.

In accordance with Shoukry, “Kerry will launch the inaugural meeting of the U.S.-Egypt Climate Working Group, a joint endeavor to advance bilateral and multilateral climate goals ahead of COP27,” the statement added.
