Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry stressed on Tuesday that Egypt would continue to pay all attention necessary to ensure adequate, sustainable, and predictable finance for peacebuilding efforts, according to Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ahmed Hafez.
Addressing the virtual High-level Replenishment Conference for UN the Peacebuilding Fund, Shoukry underscored Egypt's commitment to making tangible progress on that score during its presidency of the Peacebuilding Commission (PBC) this year.

Shoukry also stressed Egypt's support of the UN secretary-general strategy's Peacebuilding Fund’s Strategy for 2020-2024, which calls for optimizing the fund's activities and resources over the period ahead, especially in light of the political, social, and economic issues raised by the COVID-19 pandemic.
He also emphasized the need to look for innovative funding solutions to reduce dependence on voluntary contributions, while embarking on more initiatives to enhance cooperation among peacebuilding donors to ensure that their efforts are more closely aligned with the national priorities of conflict-hit countries, the spokesman pointed out.
