Minister of Foreign Affairs Sameh Shoukry met on Wednesday his Rwandan counterpart Vincent Biruta on the sidelines of the 42nd Executive Council of African Union activities.
Ambassador Ahmed Abu Zied, the spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said that both officials reviewed the mutual cooperation between the two countries, including the preparation of the second edition of meetings in Kigali in the second half of 2023.
On his side, Shoukry asserted Egypt's support for Magdi Yacoub Heart Center in Rwanda as a symbol for deep mutual ties between both countries, adding that the center is one of the most influential heart centers in Africa. Therefore, both officials asserted the importance of continuing to support the medical teams of the center and providing them with the required medical supplies.
Moreover, both ministers examined different common-interest issues, including the developments in the East of Congo, and the security situation in the country, including the plan for establishing security and stability in this region.
Therefore, Shoukry expressed Egypt's keenness in supporting all means for establishing security and peace, asserting Egypt's readiness to provide any form of support.
Also, they discussed the latest developments in the situation of GERD and the efforts of Egypt to reach an agreement.
