Sherine to Perform Live in KSA on Sept. 23

Egyptian singer-actress, Sherine Abdel-Wahab, and Saudi singers Rabeh Sager and Waad will perform live in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, on September 23.

The concert comes on the sidelines of 89th Saudi National Day celebrations.

Many fans were excited to see Abdel Wahab after a long absence, who launched hashtag #Ashtnalkalk_Sherine (#We_Missed_You_Sherine) to express their excitement.

Saudi Arabian National day, known as Al-Yaom-ul-Watany, is always marked on 23 September.

The day – became a public holiday in 2007 – commemorates Saudi King Abdulaziz announcement of the unification of the country as a kingdom in 1932.

The 38-year-old superstar talent was first discovered as a child by her music teacher at school, who convinced her mother to take her to the Cairo Opera House to meet veteran musician Selim Sahab.

She auditioned in front of him, who liked her voice a lot. The singer had served as a choral member at the Cairo Opera House from the age of nine to twelve, and then she was given a chance to become a solo singer.

She kept performing at the Cairo Opera House while looking for a music producer to launch her professional career.

At the age of 18, she was introduced to director and music producer Nasr Mahrous, who he liked her voice and decided to collaborate with her through “Free Music” company, where she met with superstar Tamer Hosny, who was also then, a new talent seeking an opportunity too.

Her first recorded song released in 2002 as a part of the album that included works of other artists.

The album was released, by the title “Free Mix3: Tamer and Sherine” and was a big hit all across the entire Middle East and North Africa. The album sold more than 20 Million copies all across the whole MENA.

It was a big hit particularly because of her single song called “Ah ya Leil”, which boosted her fame.

In early 2000, she made a duet song called “Bahebak” with Mohamed Mohy, which achieved great success and boosted her fame.

That album was followed by “Garrh Tanee” which was released in 2003 and boosted her continues success.

She made her acting debut in 2003, co-starring prominent actor Ahmed Helmy's film “Medo Mashakil” (Medo is trouble).

The 38-year-old superstar is considered as one of Egypt’s and Middle East’s most talented voices.
