Egyptian-Armenian food blogger Shahan Terzibashian is a digital phenomenon in the world of quick and unconventional recipes.
Cairofoodiecouple is one of the biggest current social media influencer accounts in Egypt.
Founded with the mutual effort of Terzibashian and his wife Melisse, also an Armenian coming from Istanbul.
The professional account came into being after the personal posts and pictures of the food-loving couple started to get recognized, loved and shared on a bigger scale day by day, in a very short while.
In less than a year, they became the brand ambassadors of many well-known franchises, acted in various commercials, in addition to cooperating with other accomplished influencers from abroad.
Their account, featuring a unique combination of food and venue reviews, authentic recipes, travel vlogs and lifestyle blogging;continues its rapid growth while providing them with the ideal opportunity to do what they love, and to share their adventures and experiences with wide crowds.
In a recent interview with the "Al Mashhad" TV channel, Terzibashian opened up about his personal life and professional career.
He shared that he entered the world of cooking by pure coincidence.
"My wife and I first met online. We met on Instagram back in 2013, when Instagram was just starting; it was a platform where everyone posted pictures, a few hashtags, and there were no DMs, no videos, nothing at all," Terzibashian said.
He noted the second coincidence was that they are both Armenian. "She's not from Egypt, she's from Turkey, and I'm from Egypt. The picture she used wasn't hers; it was a picture of a silver bracelet with her name on it, but in Armenian script," Terzibashian continued."So I wondered who she was and commented, 'Hi, are you Armenian from Egypt?' She said she was of Armenian descent from Turkey. It was strange. She told me I was from Egypt, so we chatted for a bit, and then we met up right away.".
"Within two weeks, we felt something, so we met up in Beirut on Valentine's Day. And then things took off. A year passed, and I proposed," he recounted.
Terzibashian added that he did a big proposal at the airport, it was nice, and then the matter was going well.
He noted that his wife was always a business-oriented woman, and she worked.
"She moved to Egypt and started saying, 'What's this? We got married, so we want to cook at home.' And I was already cooking, so she started doing things. She's the type of person who, when she does something, likes to do the hardest part of it; in the end, she would bring the crepe cake, things that look nice, macarons, and similar things like that. And she would tell me to put these things on our personal accounts on Facebook and Instagram. We're talking about around 2000 and 2015, and all our friends would say, 'Guys, the food is so good, it's amazing! You have to do something with this!' They told us to make a food blogging page, and we agreed."
He recalled, "Food bloggers on platforms were something new. One day, we were watching TV, and she suggested we should create an Instagram page. I said, 'Let's do it together,' and we decided on "Foodie Couple" because it was not available. I said, "You know, Cairo Foodie Couple is available. She told me that it's available. So we created it under that name."
