On Tuesday, international media indicated that a number of Afghans were killed following a series of clashes and violence which were blamed on Taliban guerrillas.

Flag-waving demonstrators from different parts of Afghanistan took to the streets on Thursday and several people were killed when Taliban guerrillas fired on a crowd, an eyewitness said, in the first popular opposition to the extremist group since they seized the capital.

"Many people were killed and others injured during a major demonstration called for by the "Our flag our identity" group but it was not clear if the casualties resulted from the firing or torturing," the eyewitness Mohammed Salim said.

On the other hand, the Taliban movement didn't comment on the recent clashes that took place across the country.
