Brett McGurk, the White House's senior adviser for the Middle East, is scheduled to visit Egypt and Qatar this week for talks on Gaza and the issue of Israeli prisoners held by Hamas, according to American website 'Axios'.
According to the website, this will be the second time in two weeks, as McGurk has visited the region for talks on the release of Israeli prisoners, after his visit to Doha on January 9.
The visit comes as part of renewed efforts by the Biden administration to promote an agreement to release Israeli prisoners.
The website also added that McGurk is expected to leave for the Middle East on Sunday to visit Cairo first for talks with Egyptian security officials.
