Senegal kept their FIFA World Cup hopes alive with a dominant 5-0 victory over Iraq in their final Group I match, significantly strengthening their chances of advancing to the Round of 32 as one of the tournament's best third-placed teams.

Habib Diarra opened the scoring in the fourth minute before Ismaïla Sarr, Pape Gueye, who struck twice, and Iliman Ndiaye completed an emphatic win for the Lions of Teranga at BMO Field.

The match swung decisively in Senegal's favor after Iraq defender Rebin Sulaka was sent off in the 12th minute for denying Sadio Mané a clear goalscoring opportunity, forcing the Asian side to play nearly the entire match with ten men.

Senegal took full advantage of the numerical superiority, overwhelming Iraq with a relentless attacking display to record one of the biggest victories of the group stage.

The result leaves Senegal well-positioned to qualify for the knockout rounds, while Iraq's World Cup campaign comes to an end after a disappointing group-stage exit.
