Senegalese President Bassirou Diomaye Faye welcomed the national football team at Blaise Diagne International Airport in Dakar early Tuesday morning, following their triumph in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

The Lions of Teranga secured their second continental title after a hard-fought 1–0 victory over Morocco in Sunday’s final, which was held at the Moulay Abdellah Stadium.
According to Senegalese newspaper Seneweb, President Faye expressed his deep pride in the players’ achievement, praising their fighting spirit, determination, and consistent high-level performances throughout the tournament.

He also commended the team’s attractive style of play, which helped bring the African trophy back to Dakar.
During his address to the squad, the president emphasized the importance of maintaining exemplary conduct and sportsmanship both on and off the pitch.
He stressed that the historic achievement belongs not only to the national team but to the entire Senegalese people, serving as a source of national pride and unity.
Senegal clinched the AFCON title for the second time in their history, defeating a strong Moroccan side in a closely contested final.
The celebrations are set to continue, with players scheduled to meet President Faye again next Tuesday following a grand victory parade through the streets of Dakar, as the nation celebrates its African champions.
