Tensions have flared on the eve of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations final after Senegal publicly criticized the tournament’s organization, just 48 hours before facing host nation Morocco in Rabat.

In a strongly worded statement released late on Friday night, the Senegalese Football Federation (FSF) voiced its dissatisfaction with the Confederation of African Football (CAF) and the local organizing committee, accusing them of multiple failings that have affected the team’s preparations for the showpiece final.

The FSF highlighted what it described as inadequate security measures upon the arrival of the players and the official delegation in Rabat.

The federation also raised concerns over accommodation conditions, which were initially deemed unsuitable, as well as restricted access to ticket allocations for Senegalese supporters.

In addition, Senegal officials criticized the absence of a training pitch that meets international standards, arguing that the lack of proper facilities has disrupted the team’s final preparations for the tournament’s decisive match.

The statement reflects growing frustration within the Senegal camp and has added an unexpected layer of controversy ahead of the final, which was expected to be a celebration of African football.

CAF and the local organizers have yet to issue an official response to the allegations.

As anticipation builds for the AFCON final, the dispute risks overshadowing what is set to be one of the most high-profile matches of the tournament.
