The General Authority of the Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZone) announced on Wednesday the signing of a contract with the Pearl Group for a polyurethane production project in the industrial zone in Ain Sokhna.

The authority said in a statement that the project is scheduled to be established on an area of 5000 square meters with initial investments of EGP 100 million ($2.05 million), with production starting in the project during the first quarter of 2025, with a targeted production capacity of 20,000 tons of polyurethane.

It added that the expected workforce in the project is 45 workers, and it is planned to pump more investments in a second phase of the project to provide more job opportunities in this activity.

The statement quoted the head of the authority, Walid Gamal El-Din, as saying that the economic zone "seeks to establish integrated industrial complexes through its targeted sectors to support global supply chains."

It is worth noting that the Pearl Group is a company that provides polyurethane (PU) insulation solutions and other applications that rely on polyurethane, such as thermal insulation and coating structural parts, and has investments in Saudi Arabia, the Emirates and India.

The group chose to establish its project within the Suez Canal Economic Zone, as it represents an export platform for neighboring countries.
