General Authority of the Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZONE) celebrated the signing of contracts for a cutting-edge smart truck yard at West Port Said Port.
This innovative project aims to reduce congestion, boost operational efficiency, and harness advanced technology to streamline and optimize truck movements in and out of the port. These efforts will reinforce its status as a premier regional logistics hub.
The Chairman of SCZONE, Walid Gamal El-Din; and the Governor of Port Said, Major General Mohab Habashy Khalil, signed the land plot lease contracts.
Additionally, Gamal El-Din, the CEO of Egytrans, Abir Leheta; and Chairman of Nafith International, Samir Mubarak, signed a strategic partnership agreement.
This 25-year partnership will develop and operate the smart truck yard at West Port Said Port with an investment of EGP 250 million.
The project is set to launch trial operations within six months and the operations will commence in one year. The signing ceremony was attended by senior SCZONE officials and representatives from the partner companies.
On the sidelines of the signing, Gamal El-Din stated that the agreement aligns with SCZONE’s strategic objectives to modernize port infrastructure, streamline logistics operations, and enhance the overall efficiency of Egypt’s supply chain.
He emphasized that West Port Said Port plays a crucial role in SCZONE’s comprehensive development plan for trade, logistics, and services. The project will enhance the port’s capacity and competitiveness by integrating advanced technologies and best practices, creating a world-class logistics environment that attracts investment and stimulates economic growth.
He highlighted that the smart truck yard will tackle congestion issues, improve traffic flow, reduce delays, and unlock the full potential of SCZONE’s ports, benefiting both businesses and the local community.
Leheta stated that Nafith Egypt combines Egytrans’ extensive logistics expertise with Nafith International’s transformative technological solutions.
She emphasized that the newly formed company has the capability to provide innovative solutions to the Egyptian market streamlining pre-shipment procedures and managing road transport operations efficiently.
She also pointed out that SCZONE’s logistics services are a critical artery for trade as any increase in transport and logistics costs directly impacts trade flows, commodity prices, and overall market competitiveness.
