Walid Gamal El-Dien, Chairman of the General Authority for the Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZONE), continued his activities on the second day of the Egyptian-German Business Forum, which moved its sessions to Munich, the capital of Bavaria.
The day began with a meeting between Gamal El-Dien and Hubert Aiwanger, Bavaria’s Minister of Economic Affairs, Regional Development, and Energy, attended by Egypt’s Minister of Finance, Ahmed Kouchouk.
The discussions focused on strengthening economic cooperation and exploring investment opportunities in the SCZONE, particularly in sectors where Bavaria is globally recognized for its industrial expertise and advanced technologies, including automotive manufacturing, engineering industries, green energy, and sustainable fuels.
Gamal El-Dien also participated in a panel discussion organized by the Chamber of Industry and Commerce of Munich (IHK Munich), alongside Minister Aiwanger, Egypt’s Ambassador to Germany Mohamed El-Badri, and Eng. Ahmed El Sewedy, President of the Arab-German Chamber of Industry and Commerce (AHK Egypt). The session was moderated by Maren Diale-Schleschmidt, Executive Director of AHK Egypt.
During the session, Gamal El-Dien delivered a presentation highlighting SCZONE’s success in attracting major global investors and showcasing its competitive advantages. He emphasized the zone’s integrated model linking world-class seaports with industrial zones equipped with advanced infrastructure, citing examples such as the Qantara West Industrial Zone, which has already attracted over $1 billion in foreign investments, including from German companies.
He also underscored the authority’s efforts to digitize investor services through the single-window system, launch a unified customs guide, and develop digital platforms and a new logistics center to streamline the import of raw materials and export of finished products. These steps, he said, aim to enhance Egypt’s business climate and create a globally competitive investment environment.
“The Suez Canal Economic Zone is fully prepared to host a wide range of industries and logistics services,” Gamal El-Dien stated, reaffirming that the zone is progressing steadily toward localizing manufacturing and transferring technology across 21 targeted industrial sectors.
The forum concluded with interactive sessions and bilateral (B2B) meetings between the Egyptian delegation and representatives of German companies. The discussions allowed investors to gain firsthand insight into available opportunities within the SCZONE.
Participants from the German business community expressed strong interest in exploring partnerships and new ventures, citing the zone’s unique location and strategic importance to global trade.
