Saudi Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan will arrive in Damascus on Tuesday, according to what the Syrian Ministry of Information announced, in the first official Saudi visit to Syria since 2011.
The visit comes days after the visit of Syrian Foreign Minister Faisal Mekdad to Saudi Arabia, and after a meeting of Arab countries to discuss the return of Damascus to the League of Arab States
. The first official Saudi-Syrian talks, since the outbreak of the 2011 crisis, resulted in agreement on 7 main points, related to a political solution to the crisis, the refugee file, preserving the Arab identity of the Syrian state, extending the sovereignty of institutions over all of the state's territory, and expelling militias.
