Saudi Arabia is set to host the inaugural International Artificial Intelligence Olympiad (IAIO), organized under the patronage of the Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority (SDAIA).
The IAIO is being held in collaboration with the International Center for AI Research and Ethics (ICAIRE) and the International Research Center for AI (IRCAI) in Slovenia, with support from UNESCO.
The event aims to establish a global platform for AI competitions, nurturing talent, and fostering innovation.
It also seeks to gather AI experts and enthusiasts from around the world to share insights, develop skills, and explore the latest advancements in the field.
SDAIA envisions the Olympiad as the foundation for a global initiative that will grow in future years, aiming to educate and inspire a new generation of AI specialists.
The event will help participants gain a deeper understanding of AI technologies that are increasingly integrated into daily life and business operations.
In preparation for the Olympiad, SDAIA organized a series of virtual lectures focused on AI through the event’s official platform.
These lectures, which spanned five weeks, aimed to equip international teams with essential knowledge, while offering students worldwide the opportunity to expand their understanding of this vital field.
Each participating country will send a team of up to four students. The competition will take place over two days during the third edition of the Global AI Summit.
On the first day, students will face scientific questions, while on the second, they will solve real-world challenges using AI technologies on a specially designed platform.
The International AI Olympiad is part of Saudi Arabia’s broader efforts to position itself as a global leader in data and AI while contributing to the UN’s 2030 Sustainable Development Goals.
