Saudi Arabia Reports 2nd Coronavirus Death

The Ministry of Health in Saudi Arabia on Wednesday has confirmed the second coronavirus death in the country.

In a statement, the ministry registered 133 new cases during the last twenty-four hours, bringing the total number of the diagnosed cases to 900, after increasing to 767 the day before.

These reports indicate a slight decline in the numbers of the detected cases, as the country registered 205 new cases yesterday.

The statement added that the new death case was recorded in Mecca.

"A new person recovered, bringing the total number of recovered cases in Saudi to 29," the ministry explained.

It also urged all citizens to stick to the lockdown and avoid gathering to succeed in fighting the COVID-19.

It is worth mentioning that the country had recorded on Tuesday, March 24 the first coronavirus death for a 51-year-old Afghan man.

On Wednesday, March 11, WHO declared that the coronavirus, which is spreading around the world, a “global pandemic; however it announced the novel COVID-19 is still “controllable”.

According to the organization, the number of the COVID-19 infections outside China has doubled in the past two weeks, and the number of countries hit by the epidemic has tripled.

“We are very concerned to achieve the alarming levels of the outbreak and its severity, as well as the alarming levels of inaction,” WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said at a press conference in Geneva.

“Now, COVID-19 can be categorized as a pandemic… we have never seen a pandemic spread due to the coronavirus,” Adhanom added.
