On Sunday, Saudi Arabia confirmed four new death cases from the novel coronavirus, raising the death toll to 8 in the Kingdom, according to the Ministry of Health.

The Ministry also announced 96 more cases infected with coronavirus, taking to 1299 the total cases in the country.

On March 11, the World Health Organization (WHO) declared coronavirus a global pandemic on March 11 as the new virus has rapidly spread to more than 500,000 people from Asia to the Middle East, Europe, and the United States.

The virus caused complete paralysis in all sports activities worldwide, as many countries around the world suspended all the sporting activities due to concerns over the spread of the virus.

Earlier today, Saudi Arabia shut down entry and exit into the Jeddah governorate and brought forward a curfew there to begin at 3 p.m. local time.

The curfew in Jeddah previously began at 7 p.m. the Kingdom applied the same measures to Riyadh, Mecca and Medina last week.

It is noteworthy that the Kingdom's air defences intercepted ballistic missiles over Riyadh and a city along the Yemen border late Saturday, leaving at least two civilians wounded in the curfew-locked capital amid efforts to curb the coronavirus pandemic.

Multiple explosions shook Riyadh in the attack, which the Saudi-led military coalition blamed on Yemen's Iran-aligned Huthi rebels who have previously targeted Saudi cities with missiles, rockets and drones.

It was the first major assault on Saudi Arabia since the Huthis offered last September to halt attacks on the Kingdom after devastating twin strikes on Saudi oil installations.
