A total of 12 people were injured in a drone attack by the Houthi militia targeting Saudi Arabia's Abha International Airport, the Saudi-led coalition revealed on Thursday.

The drone was intercepted by the Saudi forces and airport staff.

In a statement, the coalition pointed out that most of the attacks had been foiled before reaching their targets, adding that it would take firm action in response to threats against civilians and travelers.

The Abha airport lies close to the Yemeni border in Saudi Arabia's south.

Saudi state television and accompanying social media accounts showed video from inside the airport showing operations there running normally.

Light injuries were sustained by two Saudi nationals and citizens of Bangladesh, Nepal, India, the Philippines, and Sri Lanka.

The Arab Parliament has condemned the drone attack, describing it as terrorist and destructive, which has increased tensions in the region, Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported.

Moreover, the parliament stressed that these attacks do not only target the Kingdom alone, but also seek to destabilize the entire region. It also called for an urgent and immediate action by the international community to hold the Houthi militia accountable for the crimes they perpetrate and their continuous violations of the international law and the international humanitarian law.
