Saudi Amb. to Egypt Recalls Memories at Cairo Univ.

Ambassador of Saudi Arabia to Egypt, Osama al-Nugali, met on Monday with Dr. Mohamed Osman Al-Khosht, President of Cairo University.

After the meeting, al- Nugali was keen to take memorial pictures of him at the university’s Grand Ballroom.

The Saudi ambassador said that he had visited Egypt in 1976 to attend a concert of late singer Abdel Halim Hafez at Cairo University, and took the same seat number. He also expressed his appreciation for Egyptian art.

On his part, Dr. Al-Khosht, stressed the role of the Egyptian art as a soft power, pointing out that the university is expanding in doing art activities and holding high-end concerts to students.

Al-Khosht welcomed the Saudi ambassador during his maiden visit to an Egyptian university, stressing the depth of strategic relations between Egypt and the Kingdom.

The university president stressed the importance of enhancing cooperation between Cairo University and Saudi universities in various educational fields, especially with regard to the exchange of professors and students.

The two sides agreed to increase the number of Saudi students at Cairo University in the coming period.

Al-Khosht said that there are distinct educational relations between Cairo University and Saudi universities in various educational and cultural fields, stressing that more Saudi students will be invited to study in Egypt.

He also pointed out to the high number of Saudi students at Cairo University.

On the other hand, al-Nugali said that the kingdom has the biggest number of Egyptian community, noting that Egypt also has the biggest number of Saudi community.

Al-Khosht presented a collection of his books to the ambassador, including the book titled "Establishing a New Religious Era".

The Saudi ambassador expressed his pleasure to visit the university and recall his old memories in it.

It is noteworthy that al- Nugali was nominated as new ambassador and permanent representative to the Arab League in April 2018, replacing Ahmed Bin Abdul-Aziz Kattan, who became the Minister of State for African Affairs.

Al-Nugali is known for his active interaction on social media platforms, mainly Twitter, as he represents the kingdom’s voice that defends its positions and interests in local and international media.
