Saudi Pro League side Al Ittihad have officially announced the appointment of German coach Jens Wissing as the club's new head coach ahead of the 2026-27 season.
The club confirmed that Wissing has signed a contract running until 2028, replacing Portuguese manager Sergio Conceicao, whose departure followed a disappointing campaign in which Al Ittihad finished fifth in the Saudi Pro League and were eliminated in the quarter-finals of the AFC Champions League Elite.
Sporting director Frank Carrio welcomed the appointment, expressing confidence in Wissing's tactical abilities and backing him to lead the club into a new era while meeting the ambitions of both the management and supporters.
Al Ittihad unveiled their new manager through a series of videos and promotional images across the club's official social media platforms.
Wissing arrives in Saudi Arabia after a successful spell with Japan's Gamba Osaka, where he earned praise for his achievements in both domestic and continental competitions.
Speaking after his appointment, Wissing said he was delighted to begin a new chapter with one of Saudi Arabia's most historic clubs.
He described the move as a challenge he embraced with conviction, adding that he immediately recognized the club's rich history and the responsibility that comes with leading it.
The German coach stressed his determination to build a team capable of competing for major honors and fulfilling the expectations of Al Ittihad's supporters, ending his message by saying: "You are my first bet... the impossible is not Al Ittihad."
Wissing arrives with an impressive résumé, having guided Gamba Osaka to the AFC Champions League Two title after defeating Saudi side Al Nassr 2-1 in the final.
