Santos to Return to Brazilian Top Tier Next Season

Historical club Santos captured one of the qualifying seats to the Brazilian top football tier next season.

Santos are hoping to call Brazilian star Neymar to come back to the club that had a global success with the icon Pele.

Santos were relegated in 2023 for the first time in its history almost a year after the death of all-time great Pelé.

Their return to the top tier secured their place in Brazil’s Serie A after a 2-0 win at Coritiba on Monday. 

Wendel opened the scoring in 20:00 and Romulo Otero added the second in 41:00.

Serie B leader Santos have 68 points in 36 matches, securing one of the four promotion places.

Santos president Marcelo Teixeira said early Tuesday that he will wait for a final say of Neymar's future as his contract with Al Hilal will end next June.
