Leading Paris-based pharmaceutical Sanofi announced that it will suspend developing a new COVID-19 vaccine that is based on using RNA technology, regardless of the positive feedback the experts received in the early trials, Finical Times reported on Tuesday.

The company decided to stop developing the vaccine as the jabs would arrive on the market in delayed periods, especially after Moderna, and Pfizer vaccines that use the same technology conquered the markets and became more viral.

The Head of Vaccines at the multinational drugmaker Thomas Triomphe said: “There is no public health need now for another messenger RNA vaccine against Covid-19 when you can walk down the street to any pharmacy and get one.”

On the other hand, the corporation will continue working on another COVID-19 vaccine with the old and traditional techniques. It will be a single-dose vaccine, and it could be used as a booster shot.

Moreover, Sanofi decided to make use of the latest achievements in the field of employing RNA to create other vaccines for other viruses such as flu.

It is worth mentioning that the whole world is still suffering from vaccination rollout difficulties due to the slow production of vaccines; in addition, many countries started protecting their residents with an extra shot to compete against the emergence of the Delta variant.
