A harsh weather front brought sandstorms and rain through Egypt, forcing people to take cover in buildings as strong winds brought thick dust.
The Egyptian Meteorological Authority (EMA) shared updates regarding the sandstorm that Egypt faces on Wednesday.
The latest reports indicate that low to medium rain, sometimes thunderous, continue to prevail over separate areas from the north of the country and Cairo to northern Upper Egypt.
Moreover, wind will remain to be active, stirring sand and dust in most parts across the country and leading to a drop in temperature of 7 degrees in less than half an hour.
The authority urged citizens not to go outdoors nor stand under billboards as well as to wear a mask.
The EMA also advised the elderly to remain indoors.
Moreover, social media users took to Twitter to share photos and videos depicting the size of the menacing sandstorm.
