The technical staff of the Egyptian National Football Team, led by Portuguese coach Rui Vitória, has decided to rest Liverpool star Mohamed Salah for the upcoming match against Ethiopia scheduled for September 8. The decision comes especially after Egypt has secured its qualification for the 2024 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) and currently leads the group.

Strategic Rest for Salah

Salah, who has been pivotal in Egypt's qualification campaign, is being given a rest to presumably keep him in top form for the more challenging encounter with Tunisia on September 12, set to be held at El Dafa Stadium.

Strong Lineup Despite Salah's Absence

The team announced by Rui Vitória features a robust presence in the right-wing position, including Ahmed Sayed Zizo of Zamalek and Mostafa Fathi of Pyramids FC. Egypt is gearing up for its last qualifying match against Ethiopia as part of the lead-up to the AFCON 2024 tournament in Ivory Coast.

Egypt Tops the Group

Under Vitória's leadership, the Egyptian team has clinched its spot in the forthcoming AFCON after topping Group 4 with 12 points. They are followed by Guinea in second place with 9 points, while Malawi and Ethiopia are third and fourth with 4 points each. The Egypt-Ethiopia match will take place at 7 pm local time on Friday, September 8, at the El Dafa Air Defense Stadium.

Broadcasting Details

The match between Egypt and Ethiopia will be exclusively broadcast on the BeIN Sports network, the sole broadcaster for all Confederation of African Football (CAF) tournaments in the Middle East and North Africa region.

Referees for the Match

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has appointed Gabonese referee Patrick Mbyami for the match. He will be assisted by Boris Marlais Ditsoga of Gabon, Steven Mutasi Moyo of Congo, and Messi Jiesi Nkonko of Congo, who will serve as the fourth referee.

By strategically resting Salah for the upcoming Ethiopia match, the Egyptian team seems confident in their position and is already focusing on future challenges.
