Egyptian star Mohamed Salah etched his name into the Premier League record books on Saturday night as Liverpool cruised to a commanding 4–1 victory over Newcastle United at Anfield in Matchweek 24 of the 2025–26 season.

According to statistics provider Squawka, Salah became the first player in Premier League history to record more than 10 goals and more than 10 assists against the same opponent.

The Liverpool forward has now been directly involved in 20 league goals against Newcastle, scoring 10 and providing 10 assists across 19 appearances.

Newcastle took a surprise lead in the 36th minute through Anthony Gordon, whose low-driven shot beat Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson at his right post.

Liverpool responded swiftly, with French striker Hugo Ekitike turning the match on its head by scoring twice in quick succession in the 41st and 43rd minutes to give the hosts a 2–1 advantage before halftime.

The Reds extended their lead in the second half when German midfielder Florian Wirtz made it 3–1 in the 67th minute, finishing off a move created by Salah, who added another assist to his record-breaking tally.

Defender Ibrahima Konaté sealed the emphatic win deep into stoppage time, scoring Liverpool’s fourth goal in the 90+3 minute.

The victory marked Liverpool’s first Premier League win since their 2–1 triumph over Wolverhampton Wanderers on December 27.

The result lifted Liverpool to 39 points, moving them into fifth place in the league standings, while Newcastle United remained 10th with 33 points.

Salah’s historic achievement capped another influential performance from the Egyptian forward, further underlining his enduring impact in the Premier League and his status as one of Liverpool’s all-time greats.
