Salah Among 4 Egyptian Nominees for the CAF Player of the Year Award

Egyptian superstars Mohamed Salah, Mohamed Elneny, Mohamed El-Shennawy, and Mohamed Abdelmonem were all nominated for the CAF Player of the Year award.

With the football season wrapping up, CAF have announced the nominees for the their yearly awards for outstanding performances.

In the Player of the Year category, Egypt were represented by four nominations, more than every other country with the exception of Senegal who were represented by five.

The Egyptian nominees are Liverpool winger Mohamed Salah, Arsenal midfielder Mohamed Elneny, and Al Ahly duo Mohamed El-Shennawy and Mohamed Abdelmonem.

Salah’s season saw massive inpidual success, as he won both the Premier League Golden Boot and Playmaker of the Year awards, becoming the top-scoring African in the Premier League history in the process.

With the national team, he led the Pharaohs to second-place AFCON finish, beating Ivory Coast, Morocco, and hosts Cameroon on the way to the final.

He also came close with Egypt to World Cup qualification as they reached the qualifiers’ final stage, but a penalty shoot-out defeat in Senegal denied them a spot in Qatar.
