Egyptian authorities on Saturday remanded Safwan Thabet, CEO of the Juhayna Food Industries company, 15 days in custody pending investigations over joining a terrorist group and financing terrorism.
Authorities have not named the outlawed group Thabet is accused of supporting. He has been moved to Tora Prison.
The story began on Wednesday when security forces arrested Juhayna CEO. According to Reuters, two security sources said that he had been arrested for alleged “financial irregularities.”
In the same vein, today, the police arrested Sayed Ragab El-Sewerky, the owner of El-Tawheed & El-Nour department stores for allegedly financing a terrorist group.
El-Sewerky will appear before investigators in the coming hours.
