Saudi reports said on Sunday that the French coach would sign a two-and-a-half-year contract as Green's new boss.

Renard, who won the Africa Cup of Nations title with Zambia (2012) and Ivory Coast (2015), resigned as Morocco's coach on July 21, 2019, after the Atlas Lions suffered a shock defeat in the last 16 of 2019 AFCON to exit the tournament.

Renard spent almost three and a half years with Morocco, as he took the Atlas Lions to 47th from 81st in the world rankings since his 2016 appointment and led the team to the 2018 World Cup for the first time since 1998.

Saudi's national team prepare to take part in the 2019 West Asian Football Federation Championship, to be held in Iraq for the first time. They were pooled in Group B alongside Jordan, Kuwait, and Bahrain.
