The Tunisian Football Federation (FTF) has officially announced the appointment of Sabri Lamouchi as head coach of the Tunisia national team on a contract running until 2028, as part of a long-term plan to rebuild the “Carthage Eagles.”
In an official statement published on its Facebook page on Wednesday evening, the FTF said: “The Tunisian Football Federation announces the appointment of coach Sabri Lamouchi as national team head coach until 2028.”
Lamouchi, a French coach of Tunisian origin, was selected following a meeting with federation officials, during which he agreed to take charge of the national team.
The statement added that Lamouchi showed strong support for the project to develop Tunisian football by agreeing to reduce some of his financial demands, particularly regarding his salary.
Lamouchi succeeds Sami Trabelsi, who was dismissed after Tunisia’s exit from the round of 16 of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.
Tunisia were eliminated by Mali on penalties (3–2) after a 1–1 draw in regulation and extra time in the match played at the Mohammed V Stadium in Casablanca.
