On Saturday, World No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka dominated the Madrid Open final against Coco Gauff to secure a 6-3 7-6(3) win and clinch her third Madrid Open title.

This title is the third major one for Sabalenka this year.

Sabalenka, who turns 27 on Monday, now shares the record for most Madrid Open titles with Petra Kvitova.

She tied her head-to-head record with Gauff at five wins after 10 meetings.

Sabalenka said after winning the game, "Congratulations to Coco. I am so happy to see you back playing your best tennis."

She added," "You are such a fighter and I love playing against you," "With my team, we have been through a lot together so thank you to them."

Gauff said to Sabalenka: "I think it's four straight finals for you... Congratulations to you for all the success you are having."

She added: "This has been a step in the right direction for me. It is one of my favourite cities and tournaments to come to, and hopefully we can go on and win more from here."
