On Wednesday, Aryna Sabalenka became the youngest woman to reach 4 consecutive US Open semifinals in women's singles since Venus Williams in 2002.

In addition, she became the first player to reach the women's singles semi-finals at both the Australian Open and US Open in back-to-back years since Serena Williams (2015-2016).

Sabalenka advanced to the semi-final after defeating 2024 Paris gold medalist Qinwen Zheng. She claimed 6-1 6-2  over the Chinese to face US Emma Navarro.

Her contest against Navarro would be highly anticipated as Navarro presented an impressive performance during this tournament. She eliminated Paula Badosa, and the defending champion Coco Gauff.

Sabalenka said after the game, "OK guys, drinks on me - and please give me some support in the next match."

"She [Navarro] is a really good player. We had two battles, they were really close."

The game was attended by tennis legend Roger Federer.

Sabalenka responded: "I saw him there, saw him on the big screen."

"I was like, OK, I have to play my best tennis so he enjoys it. I have to show my skills, you know, slice skills, come to the net and all that stuff."
