The South Korean military has recorded North Korea's firing of rockets believed to have been launched using multiple rocket launchers.

The army detected several traces of North Korean rocket launchers on Sunday morning.

South Korea said that its military has strengthened surveillance and is maintaining appropriate readiness in cooperation with the US.

According to SBS TV, the rockets were most likely fired from conventional rocket launchers because the fired missiles flew shorter distances and at a slower speed than ballistic missiles.

Pyongyang has conducted 18 weapon tests of similar types this year, a record number of tests for the country, and comes after Pyongyang fired an intercontinental ballistic missile and two short-range ballistic missiles on May 25.

The launching happened shortly after US Vice President Joe Biden completed his Asian tour in Japan and South Korea, where the international agenda was centered on Pyongyang’s nuclear weapons concerns.

North Korea intensified its missile launches at a time of high tension between North Korea and its neighbors, as well as between North Korea and the United States, whose denuclearization talks with the regime have been deadlocked since 2019.

For weeks, the South Korean and US administrations have hinted at an impending nuclear test near Pyongyang, which would have already completed preparations.
