Dutch football legend Ruud Gullit criticized the mentality of Hossam Ghaly, the former Al Ahly star and current board member, asserting that he does not have the right mentality.
Ruud Gullit coached the Dutch team Feyenoord during the 2004-2005 season, a period during which Ghaly played for the Dutch team.
Recalling "the player who let him down," Gullit said on Sky News' "Overlap" program, "Can you imagine, having everything, but not having the right mentality?"
Ruud Gullit emphasized: "There is one player who was my biggest failure as a coach, and that was Hossam Ghaly. He had everything in football. He was strong, had a good jump, was technically excellent, and was a master of passing. But he always wanted to do a show-off, like put the ball between his legs. That can't happen. You have to play easier."
Gullit explained that he confronted Hossam Ghaly about his mistakes, but he refused to follow instructions, stressing that "he will not change because that is his personality, and Ghaly's mentality was the reason he was expelled from all European clubs."
