The President of Zanzibar, Hussein Ali Mwinyi, has awarded the "Quranic Personality of the Year 2024" to the Grand Mufti of Russia, Rawi Ainuddin, head of the Religious Administration for Muslims in Russia, at the closing ceremony of the Tanzania International Quran Competition.
African Muslims expressed their appreciation for Ainuddin's contributions to promoting Quranic values, organizing international Quran recitation competitions, and his significant support for publishing activities under the supervision of the Religious Administration he leads.
They highlighted the efforts of the Russian Mufti in writing, composing, printing, and publishing numerous books, studies, and scientific publications related to the Holy Quran and its valuable sciences. Additionally, he has translated many important books from Arabic to Russian, promoting peaceful Quranic values, condemning violence and extremism, and emphasizing coexistence, peace, love, and harmony.
The award was accepted on behalf of Mufti Rawi Ainuddin by Eldar Aliyev, Deputy Head of the Religious Administration for Muslims of the Russian Federation for International Relations.
The "Tanzania International Quran Competition 2024" closing ceremony was attended by thousands of delegates from over twenty countries, including the Prime Minister of the United Republic of Tanzania, Kassim Majaliwa; the Mufti of Tanzania, Abu Bakr bin Zubeir bin Ali; President Hussein Ali Mwinyi; the Saudi Ambassador to Tanzania; ambassadors from various Arab and Islamic countries and diplomats; distinguished foreign guests; representatives of Quranic awards and competitions from around the world including Libya, Egypt, Kenya, Yemen, Kuwait, and others; scholars; Quran memorizers; and many citizens.
It is noteworthy that the relationship between Muslims in Russia and Tanzania has deep roots and a long history, starting from the inception of the Moscow International Quran Competition to its current global stature. Tanzanian reciters have been participating for more than 20 years, representing their country at a high level and delighting the Russian audience with their skilled recitations and profound Quranic knowledge.
As per tradition, the Religious Administration for Muslims of the Russian Federation annually sends Russian memorizers to participate in the various editions of the Tanzania International Quran Competition.
The World Quranic Personality Award is annually bestowed upon distinguished scholars, political, social, and religious figures, and Quranic scholars who have made significant contributions to the study of Allah's Book and its valuable sciences, promoting and popularizing the Holy Quran and its profound teachings.
The Grand Mufti appreciated this honor as an addition to the Religious Administration's record and its significant role in serving the Book of Allah and the efforts made by relevant parties in organizing international Quran competitions in Moscow across its various editions.
