Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov expressed Russia's readiness to expand cooperation with Iran in the economic, financial, and nuclear sectors, despite Western pressure.
In exclusive statements to the Iranian news agency IRNA on Monday, Ryabkov said, "Russia and Iran have deepened their relations from various aspects over many years," emphasizing that there is no lack of trust between Moscow and Tehran.
The Russian diplomat noted that the two countries are currently facing a very difficult and challenging period, and said, "They should further strengthen their convergence."
He added, "We are fully prepared to work to enhance convergence with Iran in all areas, whether it be practical cooperation in transportation or the nuclear field," explaining that peaceful nuclear energy remains a strong area of cooperation between the two countries.
Ryabkov accused the United States and the European Union of "using Iran's peaceful nuclear activities as a pretext for using military force against Tehran," describing such moves as posing a danger to global security and prosperity.
The Russian Deputy Foreign Minister concluded, "We stand shoulder to shoulder with Iran, and we will continue to support it in the future."
