Sergei Katyrin, the head of the Russian side in the BRICS Business Council (President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Russia), has stated that issues related to artificial intelligence should be included in the council's agenda during Russia's presidency in 2024.
Katyrin told Sputnik, "Issues related to artificial intelligence should be included in the BRICS Business Council's agenda during Russia's presidency in 2024, and I do not rule out the emergence of new working groups on the implementation of artificial intelligence."
He pointed out that "in the modern world, issues of legal regulation of artificial intelligence robots are on the agenda of most international organizations and major companies."
According to him, one of the main problems is adapting existing legal tools to new relationships that will be formed in accordance with artificial intelligence systems.
Katyrin noted that the BRICS Business Council currently comprises 9 working groups in various fields, including infrastructure, manufacturing, finance, energy, green economy, vocational training, business, agriculture, regulatory reform, aviation, and digital economy.
The BRICS group includes Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa. Recently, 23 countries expressed their desire to join this economic bloc, including a group of countries that have already received an invitation to join the group in full membership.
At the summit of the group held in Johannesburg from August 22 to 24, under the presidency of South Africa, a decision was announced to invite Argentina, Egypt, Iran, Ethiopia, the United Arab Emirates, and Saudi Arabia to become full members of the organization starting from January 1, 2024.
